Ford F-150 Lightning Raptor
The Ford Lightning Raptor is a performance version of the Ford F-150 electric pickup truck. It was introduced in 2020 as a way to boost sales and image for the Ford F-150 lineup, and to compete with the other high-performance pickups on the market.
Raptor
The Raptor name comes from Ford’s successful line of Baja-inspired trucks, and the Lightning Raptor builds on that legacy with even greater performance specs. The truck is powered by a 580-horsepower electric motor, which gives it more power than the current third-generation Raptor.
The Lightning Raptor is built on a new, dedicated EV platform that was designed to accommodate a Raptor version. This platform will also be used for future Ford electric pickup trucks.
The truck has a range of over 300 miles on a single charge, and can be recharged in as little as 15 minutes using a high-speed charger.
An Eco-Friendly Monster
The Ford Lightning Raptor is the perfect truck for those who want the power and performance of a Raptor, but with the added benefit of an electric motor. If you’re looking for a truck that can handle any terrain and any situation, the Lightning Raptor is the perfect choice.
The Raptor nameplate is one that needs no introduction. It’s become synonymous with high-performance trucks, and Ford has no intention of changing that. But with the ever-growing popularity of electric vehicles, Ford has decided to give the Raptor line a much-needed update.
The Competition
The new Lightning Raptor will be designed from the ground up as an electric truck. That means it’ll have to compete with the likes of the Tesla Model X and the Rivian R1T. Ford is up for the challenge, and is planning on making the new Raptor even more muscular and desert-ready than its gas-powered predecessors.
New F-Series
Ford is also planning another all-new electric F-Series. This time, they’re going smaller, with an electric F-100 based on the Ford Ranger. This is in line with the growing popularity of midsize trucks. An electric Ford Maverick is also in the works, though it’s further out and will serve as an affordable entry-level vehicle for the brand. Ford plans to make their next generation of electric trucks at Blue Oval City, a new manufacturing complex being constructed in Stanton, Tennessee.
The price of the vehicle wiill be around $75,000 with an expected on-sale date in 2025.
