2022 Ford Bronco Raptor
When it comes to off-road vehicles, there are few that can match the Ford Bronco Raptor. The Bronco Raptor is a purpose-built machine that was designed to take on the most challenging terrain. With its powerful engine and a rugged suspension, the Bronco Raptor is more than capable of tackling any obstacle in its path.
Two icons that have battled over the off-road market for years have come together to take on an even bigger market share: the Bronco® and the Raptor™. Built for desert driving and rock crawling, the all-new 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor takes off-road performance to the next level.
This newest member of the Bronco outdoor brand of Built Wild™ SUVs made its premiere in early 2022 as the most powerful Bronco ever and the world’s first SUV inspired by Ultra4 Racing. Ford Performance, the same team that builds the F-150 Raptor, designed and engineered the Bronco Raptor as an appeal to die-hard off-road enthusiasts.
An Elite Off-Roader
The Bronco Raptor is equipped with elite off-road technology and hardware built for Ultra4Racing. Ultra4 Racing is the epitome of grueling off-road competition, with demanding races such as the famous King of the Hammers in Johnson Valley, California.
In addition, there is an extensively modified substructure, which is characterized by stiffeners and underride protection plates, as well as a chassis with long spring deflections and a wider track. A wheel suspension derived from racing vehicles, Dana axles, or semi-active shock absorbers from Fox are a further special feature of the chassis, which has been optimized for desert races and boulder crawling.
Interior
Interior features include sporty contoured seats with orange stitching and seat belts. There are further color accents in the cockpit area, and the steering wheel with shift paddles is also particularly easy to grip. The interior might even be too fancy for such an off-roader.
Power
The Bronco Raptor features an exclusive twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost® engine producing more than 400 hp, a race-ready Raptor HOSS 4.0 suspension system, a fully boxed high-strength steel frame, and standard 37×12.50R17LT BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires.
The unit is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which transmits the power to all four wheels. The Bronco Raptor has received a reinforced clutch and a special transfer case.
Bigger And Better
The Bronco Raptor is 218mm wider than the base four-door Bronco for safer cornering at high speeds. Its minimum ground clearance is 333 mm (13.1 inches), 121 mm more than the base four-door model.
While the regular Bronco is also available as a two-door, the Ford Bronco Raptor is only available with four doors. Ford justifies this with the higher stability when driving fast on unpaved surfaces, which is given by the long wheelbase of the four-door car. The price is anything but high. At least for the performance offered. The Ford Bronco Raptor is said to cost around $60,000 in the United States.
